An Absolute Work of Art: From Sketch to Mural
We’re proud to share one of our recent projects: a custom wall mural created for The Absolute Hotel in the heart of Limerick. This was more than just a design commission, it was a celebration of local talent, collaboration, and the power of bringing original artwork to life at scale.
At the core of this project was Jane Hogan, a gifted Limerick-based artist known for her vibrant, hand-drawn illustrations that capture the charm and character of her surroundings. Jane created an original drawing specifically for this space, full of intricate details and expressive line work that beautifully portray the Absolute Hotel.
Our role at Studio GBM was to faithfully transform Jane’s original piece into a full-scale wall mural, ensuring none of the nuance, texture, or integrity of the original artwork was lost in the process. Reproducing hand-drawn work on a large format can be technically challenging, but preserving the authenticity of Jane’s illustration was our top priority and we’re proud to say we achieved just that.
The result is a stunning feature mural that now lives within The Absolute Hotel—bringing energy, personality, and a sense of place to the space. It's a perfect example of what’s possible when creative minds come together with a shared respect for craftsmanship and local culture.
We’re grateful to The Absolute Hotel for trusting us with this commission and to Jane Hogan for the opportunity to bring her work to life in a new and lasting way.
